Thank you.
I started writing on this platform in February. It’s been a lot of fun to discuss ideas in front of a small audience. The best part has been getting intelligent questions from thoughtful readers. It’s a small group here, and I intend to keep it that way.
The main reason I started writing on Substack was because the kinds of securities I like to discuss aren’t suited for a larger audience. I had hoped that by writing longer form content about unknown securities I could attract a more focused audience. So far, it’s worked magnificently. The quality of interaction I have on here is vastly better than what I’ve experienced on other platforms. You all make me think harder than I otherwise would.
I’ve met some readers in person. Awesome experience. I’ve had long conversations with others over the phone and via email. I am finding great value in this endeavor. If you are having half as much fun as me, I’d consider this experiment a success.
You’re paying to be here, and that means a lot to me. Charging readers a reasonable sum is the best way to keep the group small and keep like-minded people together. We have hedge fund managers with hundreds of millions of AUM and college kids alike.
We’re an odd bunch I suppose. We like weird securities that are unknown to 99% of the investing world. We like investing history. Our idea of a good time is reading a Warren Buffett case study from 1956. We’re not normal. Afterall, you’re reading something from a guy named “Dirt”.
Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks. I’m having a lot of fun doing this, and I hope to provide you with value over the long term.
Updates on Profiled Securities
We’ve received annual reports and quarterly reports on most of the investments I’ve discussed. I’ll provide an update on each of them.
